Who Are We and Why Are We Headed for Shamrock?

We met online in 2005 trying to--what else--lose weight. We've had our ups and downs along the way, but we're not where we want to be. This is our journey to get fit and healthy. We invite you to follow us as we "exercise" our way across the country--track our progress on the map to Shamrock below-- in an effort to each lose 50 pounds by the end of 2009 and adopt a healthier lifestyle along the road.

Where will we go once we reach our goals? The sky's the limit... but we're thinking Greece would be nice.

Day 16: Daily Report

Breakfast
  • grapefruit
Snack
  • pb granola bar
  • nf latte
Lunch
  • pb&j on one piece ww toast
  • apple
Snack
  • teensy (their name for the child size) scoop of organic ice cream from our favorite place, 3 Twins, on cone
Dinner
  • 4- 1"veggie rice balls (from Deceptively Delicious- pureed spinach, sweet potato, brown rice, lf cheese, rolled in egg and ww cracker crumbs and baked)
  • green salad w/olive oil vinaigrette
Dessert
  • handful of grapes
Water
  • 60 oz
Exercise
  • 4 miles walking
Victories: Having the smallest sized scoop of the most delicious cardamom flavored ice cream on earth. Not eating the rest of Young Zorro's (son2) ice cream.
Defeats: Having the cone instead of a cup. Not starting on my water early in the day. Had planned to have a an egg for breakfast but got busy. Not enough protein for the day. Oh, and making those rice balls was not fun, but almost-7-year-old son, Indiana Jones thought it was great.

Breakfast
  • 1 c. bran flakes and milk (what else?)
Snack
  • 6 oz. pina colada yogurt, non-fat
Lunch
  • 1 3" square piece leftover homemade pizza
  • 1 small twice baked potato (Deceptively Delicious recipe)
  • small tossed salad with lite dressing
Snack
  • maybe 6 bites of roasted chicken while I was shredding it for later use
Dinner
  • 2 sweet potato pancakes (Deceptively Delicious) with smear of butter, syrup
  • milk
Damages
  • I'm not even gonna say how much because it's too embarrassing, but at least with the help of my kids, the chocolate chips are now gone.
Water
  • 60 oz.
Exercise
  • None. Sorry Betty Lou. Baby Elvis was super fussy all day, and every time I went to do the Wii Fit, he started fussing again. Not a good day.
Victories: None.

Defeats: Chocolate chips, again. But like I said, they are gone. I have instructed the crew NOT to open any more bags (we went in on a bulk order of chocolate from Guittard...thank goodness it's all in Food Sealer bags now). No exercise...but it wasn't for lack of trying.

  1. Don't worry. You have all week to catch up on the exercise ;-) it's an average not a daily total. You can do it! But I do understand that Baby Elvis is giving you a run for your money. My daughter, Gidget, was a very demanding little thing, too.
