Who Are We and Why Are We Headed for Shamrock?

We met online in 2005 trying to--what else--lose weight. We've had our ups and downs along the way, but we're not where we want to be. This is our journey to get fit and healthy. We invite you to follow us as we "exercise" our way across the country--track our progress on the map to Shamrock below-- in an effort to each lose 50 pounds by the end of 2009 and adopt a healthier lifestyle along the road.

Where will we go once we reach our goals? The sky's the limit... but we're thinking Greece would be nice.

Day 32: Daily Report

  • 2 whole wheat banana pancakes (with flaxseed, no oil) (did you know that when I say "ww" I mean "whole wheat" and not "weight watchers"?)
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1 morningstar farms fake sausage patty
  • Salad (romaine, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, 1/4 avocado, balsamic vinaigrette)
  • grilled chicken
  • 6 handsful movie popcorn (I'm figuring 400 calories for this...not worth it)
  • leftover salad (no chicken or dressing) on a homemade tostada shell with salsa
  • lf animal crackers
Calories: 1617

Water: 2.5 liters

Exercise: hike to the top of our hill (4 miles total), but not the 6-mile loop...had company coming and ran out of time

Victories: not eating more popcorn than I did. finding any time at all to exercise.

Defeats: trading popcorn for something more nutritious

Observations: An ok day considering we had people over and there were snacks galore.

Lunch...and the rest of the day
  • At this point, I left a trail of destruction so vast, so deadly, so sinister...okay it wasn't that bad. But seriously the rest of the day was a blur of BLT's (bites, licks, tastes) and bad decisions. I honestly have no clue how I could even calculate it.
Victories: zero

Defeats: the entire day

Not a great day. Sundays are like that for me. I have to figure out a way to fix that. We always come home from church STARVING!
